How To Manage Driver Permissions In Carrier TMS
Updated over 2 months ago

Introduction

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to manage driver permissions within Carrier TMS. From setting access levels to controlling specific permissions, this guide ensures you can customize driver roles to fit your operational needs. Following these instructions will help you manage permissions effectively, keeping your team secure and ensuring drivers have the appropriate access. Let’s dive in and explore how to easily manage driver permissions within Carrier TMS.

Manage Permissions

Below we will walk you through step by step on how to manage Driver permissions:

Step 1: Profile Icon

  • Click the profile icon located on the bottom left hand corner of your screen.

Step 2: Settings

  • Select Settings at the top of the menu.

Step 3: Driver App

  • Click Driver App on the left hand side of your screen.

Step 4: Fleet Mode

  • Enable Fleet Mode.

Note: Fleet Drive Mode controls and limits what the Drivers can do via their Mobile app. It is a preference that can be turned on and off on the Settings page of the Dispatcher's Dashboard. Some settings may be blocked unless this option is enabled.

Driver App Settings Options

Here, we are going to go over the different options located inside of the Driver App settings page:

Fleet Mode

Fleet Drive Mode controls and limits what the Drivers can do via their Mobile app. It is a preference that can be turned on and off on the Settings page of the Dispatcher's Dashboard. Some settings may be blocked unless this option is enabled.

When “Fleet Drive Mode” is enabled through the Dispatcher’s Dashboard, Fleet Drivers will have restricted actions on their Mobile App. Specifically, they cannot:

  • Delete an order.

  • Archive an order.

  • Send invoices.

  • Edit Pickup/Delivery company and contact names (though they can still update Pickup/Delivery addresses and add Notes as needed.)

  • Mark an order as paid.

  • Add units to loads created by Dispatchers or Brokers (where loads from Dispatchers are created in Carrier TMS and those from Brokers in Shipper TMS.)

This feature allows Dispatchers and the Accounting Department greater control over orders.

Note: Dispatchers should remember to archive completed orders to prevent unnecessary clutter in drivers’ mobile apps. Additionally, drivers can still create new orders in the app, even when Fleet Mode is on.

Hide Payment Information

  • This will hide the price for payment terms: COD, COP and CKOD.

Enable Super Loadboard

  • This will allow the Driver to view and book loads on the Super LoadBoard.

Note: If you are an owner and wish to use the app to complete inspections you may want to consider not turning this off. If you do your app will be subject to not being able to book loads on the Super LoadBoard. We highly recommend working directly with your drivers to determine the best option for your company.

Disable Customer not Available

  • This will prevent Drivers from marking that the customer was not available to complete the inspection.

Note: While we’re not suggesting this will happen in your case, but leaving this button unchecked allows drivers to bypass obtaining a signature for a load. We recommend keeping this setting enabled (Not Marked,) only if signatures aren’t necessary for your loads—for instance, if you book and move your own loads without using the LoadBoard. Please note that most Shippers and Brokers on our LoadBoard require signatures for payment.

Disable STI (Subject To Inspection) button on the Driver App

  • This option allows for Drivers to mark that a load is "Subject To Inspection." at Delivery.

Note: For instance, if a delivery location refuses to sign for a load but the driver wants to document the completion, they can use this option to bypass a delivery signature. However, similar to the “Disable Customer Not Available” feature, this can be exploited. Therefore, we recommend using this option only in situations where the driver might otherwise be uncertain about how to proceed.

Enable Driver Pay field

  • This feature allows drivers to see their payment for a load.

  • If you know the payment amount for a specific load in advance, simply enable this field and enter the information in Carrier TMS, so the driver can view their earnings directly.

Note: Enabling this also allows for easier reporting when running a Driver Pay report inside of Carrier TMS.

Enable Driver to edit Carrier information

  • This will allow Drivers to edit things such as:

    • SuperPay settings

    • Carrier Verification

    • Email settings & addresses

    • Phone Number

    • Bank Account Information

Note: We only recommend this setting for Owner Operators. If you are the only individual who uses the Driver App or Carrier TMS. Then this will allow you to edit information on the Fly from inside of the Driver App.

Enable Rating Management

  • Allow driver to add, edit and delete ratings and work with responses.

Note: For further clarification. This will allow Drivers to leave Shipper & Brokers a Rating for a load that they moved. If you do not want drivers to have this ability then please leave this unchecked.
