Terminals, Yard Management & Load Splitting In Carrier TMS

If the car you are hauling has pit stops along the way, or needs to be split between two drivers, we have a feature for that.

Updated over a month ago

Introduction

Car hauling often requires “terminal” parking for cars that can’t make the journey from Point A to Point B with the same driver. A Terminal is a “Drop Off” location where one driver leaves a car, and another driver picks it up for the next leg of the trip. Super Dispatch’s Terminal feature makes it easier for dispatchers to keep track of terminal vehicles and split loads.

How to Create a Terminal Profile

Below, we’ll show you how to create and save terminal profiles that can be used for your loads.

Step 1: Go to Settings

  • Click your business name in the bottom left-hand corner of the Shipper TMS dashboard.

  • Select Settings from the menu.

Step 2: Open the Terminals Tab

  • Inside the Settings page, click the Terminals tab located between General Settings and Driver App.

Step 3: Add a New Terminal

  • Click Add Terminal.

  • Enter the required details:

  • Terminal Name

  • Location (address)

  • Contact Person (optional)

Step 4: Save the Terminal

  • After entering the details, click Save.

Your terminal will now be available for future loads. You can also edit or delete it at any time from this tab.

How to Add a Terminal Drop-Off to a Load

Here’s how to add a terminal stop to a load you’re managing in Shipper TMS.

Step 1: Open the Load

  • Navigate to the load where you want to add a terminal.

Step 2: Select Add Terminal

  • Click the Options button in the top-right corner of the load screen.

  • From the dropdown menu, click Add Terminal.

Step 3: Choose the Terminal

  • Select a terminal from your list of saved terminals.

Step 4: Save the Changes

  • Once added, the terminal will appear as a stop between the pickup and delivery locations on the load preview.

You can add as many terminal stops as needed.

How to Remove a Terminal Drop-Off

If you need to remove a terminal drop-off, follow these steps carefully.

Step 1: Open the Load

  • Go to the load where you want to remove the terminal.

Step 2: Select Remove Terminal

  • Click the Options button in the top-right corner.

  • Choose Remove Terminal from the dropdown menu.

Important Notes:

  • Terminals must be removed in reverse order. For example:

  • If the load has Terminal 1 → Terminal 2 → Delivery, you must remove Terminal 2 before Terminal 1.

  • You cannot remove a terminal if the vehicle has already been delivered.

  • Duplicate terminals cannot be added to the same load.

How to View Vehicles in Terminals

This section will show you how to track and view vehicles currently located in terminals.

Step 1: Use the In Terminal Tab

  • On the Loads page, click the In Terminal tab to see vehicles currently in a terminal.

Step 2: View Terminal Details

  • Click on the Load ID to view details about the terminal location and activity.

Step 3: Filter by Terminal

  • Use the Search bar to filter and view vehicles stored at a specific terminal.

  • Click All Terminals in the search filter and choose the terminal you want to view.

This allows you to easily track where your terminal vehicles are located.

Inspections at Terminal Drop-Offs

Below, we will show you how to handle inspections when dropping off vehicles at terminals.

Complete a Thorough Pickup Inspection

  • Drivers should mark any damages and take photos of the vehicle before pickup.

Use Existing Photos for Delivery

  • All post-pickup damage photos and markings will appear as Delivery photos in the system.

Important Note:

We do not recommend adding additional damage photos or markings after the vehicle has been dropped at the terminal.

What the Driver Needs to Know

Here’s what drivers should expect when handling terminal drop-offs.

View Drop-Off Location

  • The terminal stop will appear as the delivery location for the driver completing the first leg of the load.

Complete Inspection

  • Drivers must perform a thorough Pickup Inspection since no additional inspections or BOLs will be added at the terminal.

Skip Customer Signature

  • At terminal drop-offs, the driver will not need to collect a customer signature.
