Introduction
To stay compliant with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), it’s important to ensure your cargo classification is accurate and up to date. This information is part of your USDOT registration, and any outdated or missing data can affect your standing. This guide explains how to update your classification using the FMCSA portal—but please note: Super Dispatch cannot access the FMCSA portal and is unable to assist with login or submission issues.
How to Update Your Cargo Classification
Step 1: Visit the FMCSA Portal
Go to the FMCSA login page:
https://portal.fmcsa.dot.gov/login
Step 2: Log In to Your Account
Enter your credentials to access your FMCSA account. If you're unsure how to log in, please contact FMCSA directly using the contact information below.
Step 3: Select the Update Option
After logging in, choose:
“I need to update my USDOT number registration information (MCS-150)”
Step 4: Complete the MCS-150 Update
- Choose Motor Vehicles if you operate as an auto hauler.
- Choose Towing / Drive Away if you’re a tow company.
- Make any additional necessary updates to your operation type or cargo classification.
Step 5: Submit the Form
Click Save or Submit to complete your updates.
Can’t Access the Portal or See the Option?
If you're unable to access the portal or don’t see the options listed above, you will need to contact the FMCSA directly. Super Dispatch cannot assist with technical issues, navigation, or submission errors inside the FMCSA portal.
