Introduction
EDI Integration helps carriers streamline the transportation of new vehicles — also referred to as Finished Vehicles — by automatically exchanging shipment data with supported OEMs. Using Carrier TMS and the Driver App, carriers can reduce manual load setup, receive real-time shipment readiness updates, and keep OEMs informed as vehicles move through pickup and delivery.
With EDI Integration, Finished Vehicles flow into the same Carrier TMS you already use for spot freight — no separate system, no extra training. Dispatchers can view, bundle, assign, sub-haul, and track OEM loads alongside the rest of their freight.
This article explains what EDI supports today, which OEMs are currently compatible, how to request an integration, what the end-to-end load flow looks like once EDI is enabled, and how to sub-haul a Finished Vehicle load to another carrier.
What EDI Integration Supports
EDI automates key steps in the shipment lifecycle so carriers can focus on execution instead of re-entering data:
- Automatic shipment import and creation of loads in Carrier TMS using Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs)
- Real-time load updates as vehicles become ready for transport
- Automatic in-transit notifications sent to OEMs based on driver activity
- Optional ePOD transmission to Fenkell when required by an OEM
- Sub-hauling — push a Finished Vehicle load to another carrier directly from Carrier TMS when you can't cover it yourself
Supported OEMs
EDI is currently compatible with the OEMs listed below.
| Ford | Chrysler | Honda |
| Nissan | Volkswagen | Mitsubishi |
| Porsche | Hyundai | Kia |
| Jaguar | Land Rover | BMW |
| Mercedes | Mazda | Rivian |
How to Request an EDI Integration
If you're preparing to transport for a supported OEM (or you're already in discussions), contact Support with the details below so we can confirm requirements and begin coordination.
What to Share With Support
Sharing this information up front helps Support route your request quickly and reduces back-and-forth during setup:
- Which OEM you plan to transport vehicles for
- Whether you have a formal agreement in place
- The duration of the contract or the scale of the move (spot buy, diversion, or special move)
- The estimated number of VINs involved (annually, monthly, or one-time)
- A direct OEM contact we can coordinate with for testing
- Your relationship status with the OEM (in discussions, under contract, currently moving spot loads)
- Whether integration with Fenkell, Freight Verify, or other partners is required (and credentials, if so)
- Your SCAC code (or note "unknown" if you're not sure)
Typical Integration Timeline
Once the required details are confirmed, the setup and testing process usually follows this path. End-to-end onboarding typically takes 3–4 weeks, though some integrations move faster and others take longer depending on OEM responsiveness.
| Step | Timeframe | What Happens |
|---|---|---|
| Step 1 — Inquiry | 1–2 business days | Reach out to Support or Sales with questions, schedule a call, and confirm fit. |
| Step 2 — Signup | 1–2 business days | Complete the OEM EDI signup form on the Vehicles page in Carrier TMS. Once approved, the OEM EDI agreement is signed. |
| Step 3 — OEM Integration | 2–3 weeks (longer for new OEMs) | Super Dispatch sets up your OEM connection(s). Any third-party partner integrations (e.g., Fenkell, Freight Verify) are configured during this step. |
| Step 4 — Testing | 2–3 business days | Test files flow from the OEM into Super Dispatch. Our team validates the end-to-end connection. |
| Step 5 — Go Live | 1 business day | After the OEM confirms the connection, Super Dispatch begins automatically importing shipments and creating loads in Carrier TMS. You're ready to dispatch. |
Integration Status in Carrier TMS
Your OEM EDI integration progresses through these statuses, visible in Carrier TMS:
| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Empty | Signup workflow is shown on the Vehicles page; you haven't started yet. |
| Submitted | Your signup has been received. Setup with the OEM can take 3–4 weeks or longer. |
| In Testing | Your integration is configured. Test files are flowing and being validated. Allow time for the OEM to complete testing on their side. |
| Activated | You're live. The Vehicles page is enabled. VINs will begin to appear when the OEM assigns them to you. |
How EDI Integration Works in Carrier TMS
Once EDI is enabled, many processes are automated. This section explains the settings you can configure and how shipments move from notice to delivery.
Available Customizations
Carriers can request changes to two EDI settings to better match operational needs:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Load ID Prefix | EDI loads use an internal load ID plus a prefix. By default, the prefix is "EDI Load #" (example: EDI Load #1034). This can be customized per OEM (example: KIA EDI #). |
| Maximum Load Capacity | Vehicles are bundled into loads automatically. This setting controls how many vehicles are grouped into a single load based on your fleet's capacity. |
Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs)
When an OEM assigns shipments, Super Dispatch receives an Advance Shipping Notice (ASN) and creates the corresponding vehicles and loads in Carrier TMS. ASNs can include vehicles that are not yet confirmed and may still be canceled by the OEM.
Carrier TMS adds an internal note to indicate vehicles that are not ready to move.

Once vehicles become ready to move, Carrier TMS adds another internal note reflecting the update.

The Vehicles Page
The Vehicles page is your home base for Finished Vehicles work. From here you can:
- View all incoming OEM EDI vehicles in one list
- See vehicles before they're released for pickup, so you can plan routing and capacity ahead of time
- View total weight for each load (calculated automatically)
- Bundle VINs into loads
- Assign loads to drivers
- Send a sub-haul offer to another carrier
- Track loads through the full dispatch lifecycle
You can find vehicles and loads quickly using the OEM/customer filter, load status filter (e.g., ASN, Released), origin and destination filter, and VIN search across all loads.
In-product notifications appear when a new VIN is received from an OEM, a previously-received VIN is released for pickup, or a sub-hauled load is canceled by the OEM or prime carrier.
EDI Load Flow
The steps below describe what happens in Carrier TMS and the Driver App during an EDI move, and when OEMs are notified.
1. Inspection Type Configuration
Loads created via EDI are set to the AIAG inspection type. This is required for OEM and EDI standards and should not be changed.
2. Notes and Interval Updates
If the OEM sends updated pickup or delivery intervals, Carrier TMS adds them to the Pickup Notes or Delivery Notes to support scheduling and coordination.
3. Automatic Load Creation and Changes
- Shipments assigned: Loads are automatically created from ASNs when shipments are assigned to you.
- Shipments canceled: If the OEM cancels shipments, the matching vehicles are removed from the affected loads.
4. Date Changes and Notifications
When pickup or delivery dates change, the OEM is notified so scheduling remains aligned across all parties.
5. Inspection Updates and OEM Status Notifications
- Pickup inspection start: When the driver starts a pickup inspection, the OEM is notified that the driver has arrived at origin.
- Pickup inspection completion: When completed, the OEM is updated with status (picked up) and any pickup damages.
- Delivery inspection start: When the driver starts a delivery inspection, the OEM is notified that the driver has arrived at destination.
- Delivery inspection completion: When completed, the OEM is updated with status (delivered) and any delivery damages.
Sub-Hauling Finished Vehicle Loads
When you can't cover a load yourself, you can sub-haul it to another carrier directly from Carrier TMS — no separate offer process, no lost visibility.
How to Sub-Haul
- Select. From the Vehicles page, pick the vehicle(s) or full load you want to push to another carrier.
- Send the Offer. Send a sub-haul offer in seconds, right from the Vehicles page.
- Track. The load shows a "Sub-Hauled" tag and updates status as the sub-hauler moves it. You retain full visibility.
Cancellations
If the OEM or prime carrier cancels a sub-hauled load, the sub-hauler is automatically notified in-product. No chasing, no missed handoffs.
BOL Behavior
At all times, the Bill of Lading reflects the driver who actually delivered the load and the carrier they delivered it for. If the load is sub-hauled, the BOL is updated accordingly when the sub-hauler completes delivery.
The Driver App
Drivers handle Finished Vehicle loads in the same Super Dispatch Driver App they already use for any other freight — no separate app, no extra training. The app is AIAG-compliant for finished vehicle inspections, holds a 4.9★ rating, and has 100K+ downloads.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate subscription for Finished Vehicles?
No additional Carrier TMS subscription is needed. The OEM EDI Add-On is billed separately, on a per-VIN delivered basis, and Sub-Haul is billed only when you use it. Contact Sales for current pricing.
How long does it take to get a new OEM connection live?
For a supported OEM, plan on roughly 3–4 weeks end to end (about two weeks of which is the OEM-side setup and testing). New OEMs and integrations that require third-party partners (e.g., Fenkell, Freight Verify) can take longer.
My OEM isn't on the supported list. Can I still use EDI Integration?
Possibly — contact Support with the OEM's name, your relationship status, expected volume, and any third-party partners required. We'll scope the timeline with you once we have the details.
Can I move OEM EDI vehicles between loads after they're bundled?
Flexible re-bundling is on the active roadmap. Today, you can move loads from the Loads tab back to the Vehicles tab to re-bundle as needed.
What happens if an OEM cancels a load after I've sub-hauled it?
The sub-hauler is automatically notified in-product, and the load status updates accordingly. The BOL reflects the actual driver and carrier that delivered.
Where do I see the total weight of a load?
Total weight is calculated automatically and displayed on the load in both the Vehicles page and the Loads tab.
Can I change the Load ID prefix or the maximum load capacity setting?
Yes — both are managed through Support. Reach out and we'll update them for you.
What's Coming Next
