Introduction
Digital Delivery Verification is a set of automated checks applied to loads that use SuperPay payment terms. These checks confirm that pickup and delivery inspections, signatures, and location requirements are completed correctly before payment is initiated.
When all verification requirements are met, SuperPay can move forward without manual intervention. If any requirement is missed, the payment is placed On Hold and must be reviewed by the shipper.
Why Digital Delivery Verification Exists
Digital Delivery Verification helps shippers reduce manual review by automatically validating delivery actions performed by drivers in the Driver App.
This system ensures:
- Inspections are completed at the correct locations
- Required photos and VIN scans are captured
- Signatures are collected properly
- Payments can move forward as soon as delivery is confirmed
Some delivery scenarios still require human review. In those cases, shippers can pause payment during the two-business-day arbitration window.
How Digital Delivery Verification Works
When a load is created with SuperPay as the payment method:
- The inspection type is automatically set to Advanced + Digital Delivery Verification
- This inspection type cannot be changed
- Verification checks run automatically as the driver completes pickup and delivery
Verification Checks
All of the following conditions must be met for payment to proceed automatically.
| Check | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Driver Location | Must be within a one-mile radius of the pickup or delivery address |
| Vehicle Photos | Six photos required at pickup and six at delivery |
| VIN Scan | VIN must be scanned at both pickup and delivery |
| Signatures | Required at pickup and delivery, within the location radius |
| Damage Reporting | No new damages may be marked at delivery |
If any check fails, the payment status changes to Payment On Hold.
How Special Features Affect Verification
Some Driver App features intentionally pause automated payment so the shipper can review delivery details.
| Feature Used | Payment Outcome |
|---|---|
| Subject to Inspection (STI) | Payment placed On Hold |
| Customer Not Available | Payment placed On Hold |
| Touchless Signature | Payment placed On Hold |
These features allow flexibility during delivery but require the shipper to manually confirm completion before releasing payment.
Carrier Warning Notifications
Drivers receive in-app warnings when an action may cause payment to be placed On Hold.
These warnings help guide drivers to complete inspections, signatures, and location-based requirements correctly the first time.
Manually Initiating Payment
If a payment is placed On Hold, the shipper must manually initiate payment after verifying delivery details.
How to Initiate Payment
- Open the order’s Details page in Shipper TMS
- Review inspection details and documentation
- Click Initiate Payment
Once initiated, SuperPay continues processing the payment to the carrier.
