Introduction
Your cargo classification is part of your USDOT registration with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). If this information is missing or incorrect, it can prevent you from being verified or approved to haul certain load types on Super Dispatch.
This guide explains how to update your cargo classification using the FMCSA portal. Please note that Super Dispatch does not have access to FMCSA systems and cannot assist with login issues or form submissions.
How to Update Your Cargo Classification
Updating your cargo classification is done through the FMCSA portal by submitting an updated MCS-150 form.
Step 1: Open the FMCSA Portal
Start by logging into the FMCSA registration portal.
Step 2: Log In to Your FMCSA Account
Sign in using your FMCSA credentials and USDOT PIN. If you cannot log in or do not have your PIN, you will need to contact the FMCSA directly.
Step 3: Choose the MCS-150 Update Option
After logging in, select:
“I need to update my USDOT number registration information (MCS-150)”
Step 4: Update Your Cargo Classification
When completing the MCS-150 form, make sure your cargo type accurately reflects your operation:
- Motor Vehicles – Auto haulers transporting vehicles
- Towing / Drive Away – Tow or driveaway operations
- Update any additional operation types or cargo classifications as needed
Step 5: Submit Your Changes
Save and submit the form to complete your update. Processing times are handled by the FMCSA and may vary.
Can’t Access the Portal or Don’t See the Option?
If you’re unable to log in, don’t see the MCS-150 update option, or experience submission issues, you’ll need to work directly with the FMCSA. Super Dispatch cannot resolve technical or account-level issues inside the FMCSA system.

How This Affects Your Super Dispatch Account
If your cargo classification does not match your operation type, your account may be declined during verification or restricted from certain load types. Once FMCSA updates are complete, changes may take time to reflect across systems.
If you believe your FMCSA information is correct but your Super Dispatch account is still restricted, contact our Compliance team for review.
