    Keeping your phone number up to date with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is important for compliance, audits, and time-sensitive communication. Your phone number is part of your USDOT registration and must be updated directly through FMCSA systems.

    This guide walks you through how to update your phone number using the FMCSA MOTUS portal.

    How to Update Your Phone Number with FMCSA

    Follow the steps below to update your phone number through the FMCSA MOTUS portal.

    Step 1: Open the FMCSA MOTUS Portal

    Start by logging into the FMCSA MOTUS portal.

    Step 2: Log In with Login.gov

    Sign in using your Login.gov credentials linked to your FMCSA account. If you cannot log in or need help with your Login.gov account, you will need to contact the FMCSA directly.

    Step 3: Open Your Carrier Record

    Once logged in, locate and open your carrier record associated with your USDOT number.

    Step 4: Update Your Phone Number

    Within your carrier record, navigate to your company contact information and enter your updated phone number.

    Step 5: Submit Your Changes

    Save and submit your changes to complete the update. Processing times are handled by the FMCSA and may vary.
