Introduction
In Shipper TMS, you can combine multiple orders into a single shipment to simplify dispatching, reduce paperwork, and streamline logistics. This feature is especially helpful when you’re transporting several vehicles to or from the same customer or location. This article explains when and how to combine orders, and what rules you need to follow.
When You Can Combine Orders
Orders can only be combined when all selected orders meet the following criteria:
- Statuses where Combine is Available: New, Canceled, Offer Canceled, Declined, and On Hold
- Statuses where Combine is Unavailable: Posted to SLB and CD, Accepted, Pending, Picked Up, Delivered, Invoiced, Paid, Archived, and Deleted
- Minimum Selection: You must select at least two orders to see the Combine Orders option appear in the bulk actions menu.
If any selected order does not meet the above criteria, the Combine Orders option will not be available.
Step-by-Step: How to Combine Orders
Step 1: Go to the Orders Page
- In Shipper TMS, navigate to the Orders tab from the left-hand menu.
- Use filters or search tools to find the orders you want to combine.
Step 2: Select Eligible Orders
- Check the boxes for at least two orders that meet the allowed status criteria.
- If the orders are eligible, the Combine Orders button will appear at the top.
Step 3: Click “Combine Orders”
- Click the Combine Orders button to begin the merge process.
- Move the Vehicles around to create your new order.
Step 4: Review the Combined Order
- The system will create a new combined order with a single reference number.
- Review the pickup/delivery info, vehicle list, customer details, and terms.
- Make any adjustments needed, then save the changes.
Step 5: Dispatch or Manage as Needed
- Once the combined order is saved, it will appear in your Orders list as a single entry.
- You can dispatch it or assign it internally just like any regular order.
How to Un-combine Orders
If you need to separate a combined order:
- Open the combined order from the Orders page.
- Click the Options (•••) button in the top-right corner.
- Select Split Orders to return the vehicles to their original individual orders.
- Note: This option is only available if the combined order hasn't been dispatched yet.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Combining orders creates a single BOL and dispatch point for all vehicles involved.
- Ensure all orders share compatible origin/destination information before combining.
- If you dispatch a combined order, it cannot be uncombined. You’ll need to cancel and recreate if needed.
- The Combine Orders action will only appear if all selected orders are eligible.
