How To Use the ‘Assign Dispatcher’ & ‘Assign Salesperson’ Features in Shipper TMS

Introduction

In Shipper TMS, you can assign a dispatcher and a salesperson to each order. This keeps your team organized, sends notifications to the right person, and lets you filter and report on orders by the people responsible for them.

What Is Assign Dispatcher?

Assign Dispatcher lets you choose one person to manage an order. The assigned dispatcher is the main point of contact for the order, receives updates about it, and is responsible for seeing it through to completion.

Benefits of Assigning a Dispatcher

  • Notifications: The assigned dispatcher receives email and push notifications for order updates, unless they've turned them off in their personal notification settings.
  • Reports: The assigned dispatcher appears in Reports, so you can track performance and order completion.
  • Filtering: You can filter orders by assigned dispatcher to review and manage each person's orders.
Note: The dispatcher field isn't tied to a job role. Anyone in your company can be assigned as the dispatcher, whether they're a dispatcher, an accountant, or another team member.

How to Assign a Dispatcher

Step 1: Open the Order

  • In Shipper TMS, create a new order or open the order you want to assign a dispatcher to.

Step 2: Find the Dispatcher Field

  • Scroll to the Dispatcher & Salesperson section of the order.

Step 3: Select a Dispatcher

  • Open the Dispatcher dropdown and select the person you want to assign.
  • Save the order.

The assigned dispatcher is now linked to the order, starts receiving notifications for it, and appears in your reports.

What Is Assign Salesperson?

Assign Salesperson links a salesperson to an order to track who is responsible for the sale. This gives you insight into sales performance, makes sure credit goes to the right person, and helps with customer follow-ups.

Benefits of Assigning a Salesperson

  • Reports: The assigned salesperson appears in Reports, so you can track and analyze sales by salesperson.
  • Filtering: You can filter orders by salesperson to find and manage each person's orders.
Note: Like the dispatcher field, the salesperson field isn't limited by job title. Any team member can be assigned as the salesperson.

How to Assign a Salesperson

Step 1: Open the Order

  • In Shipper TMS, create a new order or open the order you want to assign a salesperson to.

Step 2: Find the Salesperson Field

  • Scroll to the Dispatcher & Salesperson section of the order.

Step 3: Select a Salesperson

  • Open the Salesperson dropdown and select the person you want to assign.
  • Save the order.

The assigned salesperson is now linked to the order and appears in your reports, so you can track their performance.
