Introduction
The Trips feature in Carrier TMS helps dispatchers organize and manage multi-load routes in one place. Trips make it easier to assign drivers, track progress across multiple loads, and manage billing and payments.
This article walks through the Trips page layout, how to view and manage trips, and how trips are manually completed in Carrier TMS.
Trips Page Overview
The Trips page uses a grid layout with sortable columns so you can quickly review and organize trips at a glance.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Trip Name | Name of the trip |
| Trip Status | Current trip status |
| Driver | Assigned driver |
| Dispatcher | User managing the trip |
| Start / End | First pickup and final delivery |
| Price | Total trip value |
| Payment Status | Customer and driver payment tracking |
| Modified Date | Last update made to the trip |
Filtering Options
Filters at the top of the Trips page help you quickly locate specific trips.
- Search by trip name
- Driver — filter by assigned driver
- Dispatcher — filter by trip creator
- Trip Status — select one or more statuses
- Payment Status — filter by payment progress
Viewing Trip Details
Click any trip from the grid to open the Trip Details view. This screen gives you a complete overview of the route and included loads.
- Trip name and route map
- Attachments and internal notes
- Assigned driver (assign or reassign as needed)
- All loads included in the trip
Managing Trip Statuses
Trips move through several statuses as loads are assigned, picked up, and delivered.
| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Planning | Trip is created but not assigned to a driver |
| Ready | Driver assigned, all loads are New |
| In Progress | At least one load is picked up or delivered |
| All Delivered | All loads are delivered |
| Completed | Trip has been manually marked as complete |
⚠️ Important: Trips do not automatically move to Completed status. After all loads are delivered, a dispatcher must manually mark the trip as completed from the Trip Details screen.
Available Trip Actions
Use the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the Trip Details screen to manage the trip.
- Reassign or unassign a driver
- Mark the trip as completed
- Mark as billed or paid
- Archive the trip
- Delete the trip (permanent and cannot be undone)
