Introduction
This article explains how Load Insurance works in Shipper TMS, how to purchase coverage, when insurance can be canceled, and how refunds are handled.
Load Insurance is offered per load and provides additional protection during vehicle transport. Coverage is optional and controlled at the order and vehicle level.
How Load Insurance Works in Shipper TMS
This section explains how and when Load Insurance can be purchased and applied.
Load Insurance is provided through Super Dispatch’s insurance partner, Tint, and is purchased per individual load.
- Insurance can only be purchased after a VIN is added to the load.
- Coverage applies only to the specific load and vehicles selected
- Insurance is not applied automatically or in bulk.
Once insurance is purchased, a blue This load is insured banner appears on the load details page.
How to Purchase Load Insurance
This section walks through purchasing insurance during order creation.
Option 1: Purchase During Order Creation
Insurance can be added while creating a new order once vehicle details are entered.
- Create a new order from the Orders section.
- Add vehicle details, including the VIN.
- Once a VIN is added, the Insurance section becomes available.
- Click Add Insurance to purchase coverage for the load.
Canceling Load Insurance and Refund Eligibility
This section explains when load insurance becomes active, when it can be canceled, what actions trigger cancellation, and when refunds apply.
When does load insurance become active?
Once a shipper purchases load insurance, the coverage is considered active at the moment the vehicle is picked up by a carrier and stays active until the moment the vehicle is delivered and offloaded.
During that period, shippers can begin the claim process if an unexpected incident occurs (for example, damage discovered during loading).
Can load insurance be canceled?
Yes — load insurance can be canceled (willingly or automatically) only BEFORE the vehicle is picked up by a carrier.
After pickup, insurance is active and no cancellation is allowed.
Shipper-triggered cancellation (canceling willingly)
Shippers can cancel insurance before pickup from the Insurance section.
- Open the Insurance section from the navigation bar and click Manage Insurance (or locate the insured load you want to update).
- Click the three-dot menu next to the vehicle and select Cancel Coverage.
- If multiple vehicles are listed on the same order, only the vehicles you select will be canceled — coverage for all other vehicles remains active.
Automatic insurance cancellation triggered by order activity
Certain actions in Shipper TMS can automatically cancel insurance only if they occur before pickup.
Order-level actions
These actions cancel insurance only when performed before pickup:
- Archiving an order before pickup
- Deleting an order before pickup
Vehicle-level actions
Editing or deleting vehicle details before pickup triggers automatic insurance cancellation for the affected vehicle(s).
- Editing any vehicle details (VIN, Year, Make, Model, Vehicle Type)
- Deleting a vehicle from the order
If an order contains multiple vehicles, insurance is canceled only for the vehicle(s) that were edited or removed. Coverage for unchanged vehicles remains active.
Refunds for canceled insurance
Yes — refunds can be issued only if insurance is canceled BEFORE pickup.
- No refunds are issued after a vehicle has been picked up.
- Super Dispatch does not issue insurance refunds.
- Refunds are processed directly by our insurance service partner, Tint.
If you have questions about refund timing or status, please contact Tint directly.
