What Is Vehicle Insurance?
Vehicle Insurance is a feature in Shipper TMS offered in partnership with Tint. It allows shippers to purchase an insurance policy for eligible vehicles on a created order. The policy covers damage and theft of a vehicle from the moment of pickup through delivery.
For insured vehicles, Tint processes claims in as few as 7 business days and issues payment directly — removing the manual work of chasing a carrier or their insurer, while delivering exceptional insurance service to shipper customers.
Vehicle Insurance is an optional add-on and is always tied to a specific order and vehicle. Coverage is controlled at the order and vehicle level.
How Vehicle Insurance Works
Vehicle Insurance is provided through Super Dispatch's insurance partner, Tint, and is purchased per vehicle within an order.
- Insurance can only be purchased after a VIN and pickup & delivery details are added to the order.
- Coverage applies only to the specific vehicles selected on the order.
- Not all vehicle types (e.g. boats, motorcycles) are eligible for insurance.
- Vehicles with a declared value above $200,000 are not eligible.
- Insurance is not applied automatically or in bulk.
Once insurance is purchased, the Add Insurance button changes to a Manage Insurance button and a blue This load is insured banner appears on the load details page.
How to Generate an Insurance Premium Quote
You can estimate your premium price using vehicle details and pickup & delivery information before committing to a purchase.
If insurance has never been purchased
- Go to the Insurance tab in the left navigation bar.
- Enter Pickup and Delivery address information.
- Enter the vehicle's Year, Make, Model, and Vehicle Type.
- Click Calculate Insurance.
If insurance has been purchased at least once
- Go to the Insurance Quote Calculator sub-tab.
- Enter Pickup and Delivery address information.
- Enter the vehicle's Year, Make, Model, and Vehicle Type.
- Click Calculate Insurance.
If a quote can't be calculated (e.g. for vintage or classic vehicles), use declared value ranges to estimate. Ranges run from $1–$1,000 up to $199,001–$200,000.
Important:
- The calculated premium is an estimate only. If you change vehicle details on the order before purchasing, the final premium may differ.
- Using only a ZIP code, city, or state for pickup/delivery may produce a different price at purchase, since the order requires a full street address.
- Clicking Calculate Insurance does not initiate a policy purchase.

Canceling Vehicle Insurance and Refund Eligibility
When Does Insurance Become Active?
Coverage becomes active the moment a vehicle is picked up by a carrier and remains active until the vehicle is delivered and offloaded. During this period, shippers can begin the claim process if an unexpected incident occurs.
Can Insurance Be Canceled?
Yes — insurance can be canceled (manually or automatically) only before the vehicle is picked up by a carrier. After pickup, insurance is active and cancellation is not allowed.
Shipper-Triggered Cancellation
Shippers can cancel insurance before pickup from the Insurance section.
- Open the Insurance section from the navigation bar and click Manage Insurance (or locate the insured load you want to update).
- Click the three-dot menu next to the vehicle and select Cancel Coverage.
If multiple vehicles are listed on the same order, only the vehicles you select will be canceled. Coverage for all other vehicles remains active.
Automatic Cancellation
Certain actions in Shipper TMS automatically cancel insurance — but only if they occur before pickup.
Order-level actions (before pickup only):
- Archiving an order
- Deleting an order
Vehicle-level actions (before pickup only):
- Editing any vehicle detail (VIN, Year, Make, Model, Vehicle Type)
- Deleting a vehicle from the order
Refunds for Canceled Insurance
Refunds are available only if insurance is canceled before pickup.
- No refunds are issued after a vehicle has been picked up.
- Super Dispatch does not issue insurance refunds directly.
- Refunds are processed by Tint, usually within 2 business days, to the same payment method used at purchase.
For questions about refund timing or status, contact Tint directly.
