Introduction
In the world of auto transport, tracking and visibility are top priorities for managing freight and shipments efficiently. Real-time load tracking not only allows Carriers, Shippers, and Brokers to keep customers informed, but it also enhances customer service across the board. Super Dispatch leads the way in providing seamless tracking and visibility from pickup to delivery.
In this guide, we’ll cover frequently asked questions on location sharing, explaining what sharing your location means and the benefits for Carriers, Drivers, and Shippers alike.
How Does Sharing My Location Benefit Me as a Carrier or Driver?
When you share your location with Super Dispatch, you enable a number of features that make deliveries more efficient and boost trust with Shipper customers. Here’s how:
-
Reduce Callbacks: By sharing your location, Shippers and Dispatchers can track deliveries in real-time, reducing the need for phone check-ins.
-
Prevent False Claims: Location sharing supports geotagging of vehicle inspection photos, helping to avoid false damage claims.
-
Improve ETAs for Shippers: Accurate location data gives Shippers better insight into delivery timelines, allowing them to provide ETAs to their customers.
Build Trust with Shippers: Sharing location data builds transparency, enhancing your reputation with Shippers and encouraging repeat business.
Who Can See My Location and When?
When location sharing is enabled, only specific users within the Super Dispatch platform can view your location, and only under certain conditions:
-
Dispatchers: When you have an active load assigned, Dispatchers can view your location in the Carrier TMS.
-
Shippers: When the status of a load is Picked Up, Shippers can view your location in the Shipper TMS.
Note: Your device’s location is never visible to anyone outside of Super Dispatch. If you’re off-duty or not using Super Dispatch for load processing, you can turn off Location Services.
What Information Can Shippers See?
When tracking is active, Shippers using Super Dispatch can view:
-
ETA: The estimated arrival time at the delivery location, calculated using live traffic and road conditions. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed time of arrival.
-
Time Remaining: An estimate of the time left until the load reaches its destination.
-
Last GPS Update: Shows the last time GPS information was received from the driver’s device.
-
Approximate Location: Displays an approximate location (e.g., near Omaha, NE), which opens in Google Maps if clicked. This assumes a direct route from the current location to the destination without additional stops.
