Step 1: Log in to Your Shipper TMS Account
- Log into your Shipper TMS account.
- Navigate to the Manage Carriers section from the sidebar menu.
Step 2: Locate the Carrier
- Browse the list of carriers displayed in the Manage Carriers section.
Note: Each carrier will display their associated statuses, such as Approved, Preferred, Certificate Holder, Insurance Expired, Blocklisted, or Internal.

Step 3: Review Carrier Profile and Verified Status

- View their Company Assessment, which includes the following under Authority:
- A green checkmark means the carrier's USDOT number is active and authorized to haul cargo according to the FMCSA database.
- A yellow warning symbol means the carrier is NOT AUTHORIZED. It is not recommended to dispatch loads to carriers without FMCSA authorization.
- Additional documents such as a USDOT Certificate, W9 Form, and valid Cargo Insurance.
- Click the document links to view them directly in your browser.
Step 4: Use the Internal Records Feature
- Mark carriers as Approved or Preferred to indicate their internal status.
- Use the Certificate Holder feature to upload and store insurance records for your internal reference.
- Once you've updated the carrier's status, it will display at the top of their Carrier Profile for easy access.
Understanding the Verified Carrier Assessment
Below are the key components of a Verified Carrier assessment:
- Authority: Confirms the carrier's FMCSA status.
- USDOT Certificate: Ensures the carrier has active operating authority.
- W9 Form: Verifies the carrier's tax compliance.
- Cargo Insurance: Confirms valid insurance coverage for shipments.
Note: It is not recommended to dispatch loads to carriers without FMCSA authorization. Always confirm a carrier's authority status before assigning them to a load.
