Introduction
The AIAG inspection is a standardized process used when transporting new vehicles for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). It uses a code-based damage entry system designed to meet the strict reporting requirements of the automotive industry. This guide walks you through how to complete an AIAG inspection using the Super Dispatch Driver App, including how to mark damages, take photos, and finalize your inspection.
How to Complete an AIAG Inspection
AIAG inspections help ensure accurate vehicle condition reporting before and after transport. The inspection flow allows you to mark damages, take photos, or complete additional inspection items depending on your carrier’s preferences.
Step 1: Start the Inspection
- Open the order in the Super Dispatch Driver App.
- Select the vehicle you want to inspect.
- Tap Start Inspection.
At the top of the screen, you’ll see the vehicle’s Year, Make, Model, and VIN to confirm you are inspecting the correct vehicle.
Step 2: Inspect the Vehicle
- If the vehicle has no visible damage, you can take photos to document the vehicle condition or proceed directly to the signature section.
- If the vehicle has damage, tap Mark Damage to document it using the AIAG code system.
Step 3: Enter AIAG Damage Code
Each damage must be recorded using a 5-digit AIAG code. You can record damage with or without photos depending on your carrier’s inspection settings.
-
Damage Area: Tap Select Damage Area and choose the correct section of the vehicle.
Example: For windshield damage, select 20 – Windshield. -
Damage Type: Select the correct damage type.
Example: 06 – Cracked. -
Damage Severity: Choose the appropriate severity.
Example: 5 – Over 12” / 30 cm & Over. - Photos (Optional): You may add photos to document the damage if required or preferred. Your carrier may require photos for each damage entry.
Once you have entered the damage details, tap Save to record it.
Step 4: Add Additional Damages or Photos
You can repeat this process to add more damages or take general photos without marking damages.
- To add another damage, tap Mark Damage again.
- To take photos without recording damage, tap Take Photos at any time during the inspection. This is helpful for documenting general condition or setup when no damages are present.
- Both actions are optional and can be completed in any order.
Step 5: Add Additional Inspection Items
Depending on your load setup, you may see an Additional Inspection Section. This section stores any extra items or inspection requirements (such as condition notes or required checkpoints). If any items are marked as required, they must be completed before finalizing the inspection.
Step 6: Finalize the Inspection
- After marking any damages or taking photos, tap Complete Inspection.
- If you did not mark any damages, you’ll see a confirmation screen asking if you’d like to proceed without recording damages. You can return to mark damages or tap Continue to finish.
- Proceed to the signature screen to capture customer confirmation.
AIAG inspections can be completed offline — any data or photos will automatically sync when you regain an internet connection.
Vehicle Inspection Features
The Driver App includes several tools to make AIAG inspections faster and more accurate:
Photo and Video Viewer
View all inspection photos and videos in one place by swiping left or right. Get reminders when photos are missing and tap any image to expand it into full gallery mode.
Damage Tracker
Displays all recorded damages directly on the vehicle image for quick reference. If no damages are recorded, the section will remain empty until you add one.
Additional Inspection Section
Stores extra notes or inspection items from pickup or delivery, allowing you to review or edit before completion.
Pickup/Delivery Toggle
Easily switch between pickup and delivery inspections using the toggle at the top of the screen. This helps compare before-and-after vehicle conditions for accuracy and transparency.
Carrier Settings
Carriers can control whether photos are required for AIAG inspections directly from Carrier TMS. When photo requirements are disabled, drivers can submit damage codes without photos or take photos without damage codes. When enabled, photos are mandatory for all damage entries.
