Introduction
If you're using Carrier TMS on desktop, you have the ability to cancel loads that are still in the New or Assigned status. This article walks you through the process of canceling a load directly from Carrier TMS.

Step-by-Step: How to Cancel a Load in Carrier TMS
Follow the steps below to cancel a load from the Carrier TMS web platform.
Step 1: Open the Load Options
- Log in to Carrier TMS from your desktop.
- Go to the New or Assigned tab.
- Find the load you want to cancel.
- Click the Options menu next to the load.
Note: The Cancel option is only available for loads in the New or Assigned status.
Step 2: Select “Cancel Load”
- Scroll to the bottom of the dropdown menu.
- Click Cancel Load.
Step 3: Review Any Split Load Warning
If the load is part of a split shipment, a pop-up warning will appear:
- If none of the split loads have been picked up, delivered, billed, paid, or archived, the pop-up will notify you that all split loads will be canceled.
- If some of the split loads have already progressed in status, the pop-up will list those loads — but they will not be canceled.
- You can click the provided links to review each split load’s status.
Step 4: Choose a Cancellation Reason
- Select a cancellation reason from the dropdown list.
- Optionally, add a comment.
- Click Yes, Cancel to confirm.
Step 5: Load Cancellation Confirmation
- The load will now show a Canceled label in your dashboard.
- Any eligible split loads will also show the Canceled label.
- The Cancel Load option will no longer appear — instead, you'll see Archive or Delete.
- A record of the cancellation will be added to the Activity Log, including who canceled it and when.
