Introduction
VIN Barcodes allow drivers to generate scannable barcodes for every vehicle on a load — directly from the Driver App. Instead of having pickup agents manually enter VINs into their system at the yard, they can scan the barcodes instantly, saving significant time on multi-vehicle loads. Drivers can also share or print a full barcode document to keep on hand at pickup.
How to Enable VIN Barcodes
VIN Barcodes must be turned on by a dispatcher or account admin in Carrier TMS before they appear in the Driver App. Once enabled, the Show VIN Barcodes button will appear on every load.
How to Use VIN Barcodes in the Driver App
Step 1 — Open the Load
Open the load you are picking up in the Driver App. You will see a Show VIN Barcodes button on the load detail screen, alongside the vehicle list.
Step 2 — Tap Show VIN Barcodes
Tap Show VIN Barcodes to open a list of all vehicles on the load, each displaying its scannable barcode and VIN number. The pickup agent can scan directly from this screen.
Step 3 — View Individual Barcodes
Tap any barcode in the list to open it full-screen. Use the Prev and Next buttons to move between vehicles. This makes it easy for an agent to scan one vehicle at a time without the driver navigating back and forth.
Step 4 — Share or Print the Barcode Document
From the barcode list view, tap the share icon to generate a PDF document containing the load information and all VIN barcodes. You can then:
- Print the document at a yard or office.
- Save it to your device via Save to Files.
- Share it via AirDrop, Messages, WhatsApp, or any other app.
The generated PDF includes the order name, pickup and delivery locations, dates, and a barcode for every vehicle on the load.
